Description

Kokedama — Japanese for "moss ball" — is a plant presented without a pot: its roots are wrapped in a ball of enriched potting mix covered with natural moss. This one holds a Ficus retusa, an evergreen tropical bonsai. Each piece is shaped by hand in Morocco and therefore unique, in the spirit of wabi-sabi.

What's included

  • A Ficus retusa in a 13 to 16 cm diameter ball of enriched potting mix and natural moss.
  • A handmade ceramic dish. You can also hang it.

Where to place it

In soft, indirect light, ideally near a window. Between 18 and 25 °C, away from cold and draughts.

Caring for your kokedama

  • Once a week, dip the ball in a bowl of water for 10 to 15 minutes, then let it drain before putting it back.
  • Mist the moss once or twice a week with a fine-mist spray bottle.
  • Rewrap the ball or repot every 12 to 18 months, depending on growth.

Good to know

Ficus sap is irritating and toxic to pets: keep out of reach of cats and dogs.
