The symphony of the living
In a forest, no tree grows alone. Everything is interconnected; everything is dialogue. Roots intertwine, fungi act as messengers, the tallest trees shelter the smallest.
It is a lesson in humility for those of us who so often cultivate our individualism.
When a tree is attacked by a pest, it sends chemical signals to its neighbours. They prepare themselves before they are even touched. Not out of altruism — out of a collective instinct for survival.
Our best networks work like this. Not out of obligation, but through resonance.
Perhaps we should relearn how to listen to this silent symphony and cultivate our own interdependence.
