Description
Monstera adansonii is the lighter cousin of Monstera deliciosa. Its smaller, finer leaves are pierced with oval holes from an early age, giving it a lacy look. It grows quickly and adapts to your home: on a pole it climbs; placed up high, it cascades down.

Where to place it
Near a bright window, or on a high shelf in a bright room. It loves humidity: a bright bathroom or kitchen suits it very well.
Caring for your Monstera adansonii
- Water when the top of the soil feels dry; it prefers slightly moist soil to soggy soil.
- Mist the foliage when the heating is on or in hot weather with a fine-mist spray bottle.
- To make it climb, tie the stems to a moss or coir pole; to make it trail, leave them free.
- Cut back stems that grow too long just above a node: it will branch out again.
The right potting mix
An airy, moist mix rich in organic matter: our Alocasia and tropical plant mix is made for it. Add coco chips if your home is very dry.
Mistakes to avoid
- Air that's too dry: leaf edges turn brown and curl.
- A corner that's too dark: stems stretch out with few leaves.
- Leaving water in the planter: roots rot quickly.
Frequently asked questions
Can I propagate it?
Yes, very easily: cut a stem below a node with an aerial root and put it in water. Roots appear within two to three weeks.
