What it is

Compost tea is compost steeped in water. It draws out soluble nutrients and some of the micro-organisms.

Frequently asked questions

What dose should I use?

8 pumps (10 ml) per litre of water, every two to three weeks during the growing season. One bottle makes 20 litres of solution. A plant doesn't grow faster with more fertiliser: the excess builds up in the potting mix.

When should I use it?

All year round, at the right dose. From spring to the end of summer, full dose every 2 to 3 weeks. In autumn and winter, a houseplant slows down without stopping: half dose, every 4 to 6 weeks.

Is it suitable for all plants?

For most indoor and outdoor plants. Carnivorous plants are never fed through the soil. If in doubt, ask us.

Does it replace light and watering?

No. Fertiliser is a supplement: check your plant's light and watering first.
