Where to place it

Near a bright window: the variegation needs light. It tolerates medium light but then becomes greener and sparser.

Caring for your Schefflera variegata

  • Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry.
  • Cut back stems that grow too long in spring: it branches out and becomes denser.
  • Dust the foliage from time to time.
  • Feed it once a month in spring and summer with root feed for foliage plants.

The right potting mix

A free-draining potting soil, lightened with perlite.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Overwatering: it drops its leaves all at once.
  • Moving it around often.
  • A dark corner: it grows leggy and loses its variegation.
