Description

Rhaphidophora decursiva looks like a Monstera, but with finer, longer leaves cut into regular strips. It's a vigorous climbing vine: on a moss pole it gains height quickly, and its leaves grow larger as it climbs. A collector's plant, still uncommon in Morocco.

In a bright living room or office, near a window with a sheer curtain. Allow for height: it climbs its support quickly.

Caring for your Rhaphidophora decursiva

  • Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry.
  • Attach the stems to a moss or coir pole: its aerial roots cling to it and the leaves grow larger.
  • Mist the pole and foliage with a fine-mist spray bottle in dry spells.
  • Feed it every two to three weeks in spring and summer with root feed for foliage plants.

The right potting mix

A very airy mix: our Alocasia and tropical plant mix, with bark chips for large pots.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Leaving it without support: it slumps and produces small leaves.
  • Air that's too dry.
  • Overwatering in winter.
