Where to place it
In a bright room: office, kitchen, living room, bathroom. It prefers bright indirect light and tolerates medium light; it copes well with dry air.
Caring for your Peperomia obtusifolia
- Let the soil dry out almost completely between waterings.
- It doesn't need misting: the air in our homes suits it.
- Repot it only every two to three years — it likes being snug.
- Feed it once a month in spring and summer with a gentle fertiliser.
The right potting mix
A light, very free-draining mix: potting soil lightened with perlite, or blended with a little cactus and succulent mix.
Mistakes to avoid
- Overwatering: soft stems and leaves blackening at the base.
- A large pot that stays wet.
- Scorching afternoon sun.
