Where to place it
Near a large window: it's a plant that needs light. Find it a spot and keep it there — it doesn't like being moved and lets you know by dropping leaves.
Caring for your Ficus lyrata
- Water generously when the top few centimetres of soil are dry, then empty the saucer.
- Wipe its large leaves regularly with cleaning gloves or a damp cloth.
- Give it a quarter turn every month so it grows straight.
- Feed it every two to three weeks in spring and summer with root feed for foliage plants.
The right potting mix
A free-draining mix that doesn't stay soggy: potting soil lightened with perlite, or our Alocasia and tropical plant mix with a little extra perlite.
Mistakes to avoid
- Moving it often: it drops its lower leaves.
- A dark corner: it grows leggy and stops producing new leaves.
- Cold draughts and direct air conditioning.
Frequently asked questions
It dropped a few leaves after delivery — is that serious?
It's common: it's reacting to the change of place. Put it in the light, water normally and don't move it again; it will recover within a few weeks.
Every plant is chosen and checked at the studio before it leaves. Delivery anywhere in Morocco, or collection from our studio in Rabat. A plant that arrives damaged will be exchanged: let us know within 48 hours with a photo.
